Mercedes-Benz SL GTR Concept
The Mercedes-Benz SL GTR Concept is a study of a futuristic racing car homologated for road use and inspired by the sportscars of the 1950′s and 1960′s. The author is design graduate Mark Hostler.
The design of the Mercedes-Benz SL GTR combines the typical proportions and classic teardrop-shaped  canopy of the closed-wheel racing cars with an aggressive front end, muscular fenders and a number of aerodynamic features, including a roof-mounted air scoop and distinctive side air openings.

Among the technical features envisioned by the author for his concept are a carbon fiber body and structure, carbon ceramic brakes and a nismo designed 5.5 litre v8 race engine from the Nissan GTR GT1 race car.

As Mark Hostler explains, “the bodywork is designed to look shrink wrapped around the mechanical components, taking out all unnecessary volume from the surfaces and exaggerating the cooling and induction intakes [...]“
